0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Thursday, March 24, 2011

It looks like Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6.7 update released a few days ago doesn’t only bring improvements to the operating system. It introduces new problems to Macs that use NVIDIA Quadro 4000 graphics cards. It has been reported that the display driver for the graphics card was incompatible with OS X 10.6.7 and during installation of the update, it was simply removed. Without the proper drivers for the graphics card, the Mac can’t make use of all the Quadros’ features and may not work properly. Fortunately NVIDIA was quick to recognize the problem and has issued an update to fix it. If you recently updated to OS X 10.6.7 and you have a Quadro 4000, head here to get the updated display driver.

How to enable ‘Save and Quit’ option in Firefox 4

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Thursday, March 24, 2011

If you’ve recently updated to Firefox 4, then you must have noticed a new design and some new features. But there’s one very handy feature ‘Save and Exit’ which is missing in Firefox 4, but was available in previous versions of Firefox browser. However, there is a quick and easy way to get back this option, which restores all the tabs opened in the browser on re-opening Firefox 4

To Enable ‘Save and Quit’ feature in Firefox 4, just type about:config in the address bar and open it. Enter browser.showQuitWarning in the Filter tab. Double-click the entry named browser.showQuitWarning so that its value changes to ‘true’. That’s it!

Now you’ll be presented with ‘Quit Firefox’ dialog box on closing Firefox 4. :)

Thanks @rish404 for the tip. .

HTC HD7S hands-on

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Tuesday, March 22, 2011

HTC’s HD7 was certainly one of the most handsome devices to be launched back at Windows Phone 7′s retail introduction late last year — and really, when you take the HD2′s heritage as your starting point, it’s hard to go wrong. Of course, in the last year and a half, mobile display technology has advanced by leaps and bounds — and the original HD7 was using nothing more than a standard, old-school TFT LCD with less-than-perfect contrast and viewing angle specs. Well, that’s where the HD7S comes into play: the “S” in the name presumably stands for Super LCD, the newer type of display that HTC’s been using on recent 4.3-inch models like the Thunderbolt. It’s quite pretty, but otherwise, it’s the same HD7 as usual — and really, considering how nice this hardware is, that’s just alright by us. The phone also comes with the so-called “NoDo” update of Windows Phone 7 preinstalled, a fact we were able to verify with a quick look of the version number being reported in system settings. Check it out in the gallery!
HTC HD7S hands-on originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 22 Mar 2011 16:42:00 EDT.

Yap Voicemail brings voicemail-to-text for AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Yap has just announced that they’ve released the Yap Voicemail app for Android phones on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. The app converts voicemails into text, which makes it easier to access, search and respond to voicemail messages. This also allows users to quickly determine how important voicemails are – by just taking a quick glance at a voicemail converted to text, they’ll know what’s going on without having to listen to the whole thing. Details such as dates, numbers and addresses are also stored as text, making it easier to refer to without having to listen to the voicemail, jotting down notes with a pen on paper. While Sprint was announced as the only carrier to have their services fully integrated with Google Voice yesterday, it looks like they’ve been left out of the Yap bandwagon. It’s not like Sprint needs it anyway, since Google Voice offers voicemail-to-text as well, but it would’ve been great to know that extra options were available. Yap is available for download on the Android Market now for phones running Android 2.0 and higher.
