Speaking at the annual conclave of geek known as South by Southwest, Google Vice President Marissa Mayer said that Google Maps is being used by over 150 million mobile users map, about 40% of application usage. In addition, mobile users looking to move using Google Maps and Google Maps application for navigation over 12 billion miles in the last year. Mayer went on to say that thanks to the function of the traffic that Google has launched routing, users are saving about 2 years time every day your driving itinerary changes for the bad traffic. Many features of Google Maps for Android are not yet available for the iPhone, but Mayer says that while the weather will change, Google will Android Android platform first because, obviously, has a wider audience (of course, the fact that powers Google's Android operating system has nothing to do with it, right?).
Mayer went on to say that the future looks bright for Google Maps as the company is always working to improve the interface and make it more intuitive. Google wants access to other details of a life, so that users can offer real data time traffic and weather conditions that may affect the user. That certainly help people who need the information on the fly, but they go against privacy advocates are worried that Google is becoming too intrusive?
While Google's motto has always been "do no evil," but is less known mission statement is "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." That seems to be what Google Maps is moving. It has made no secret of the goal for access to all details of his life of users and the use of various forms, not just to turn a profit, but also to offer more services. And it's hard to complain when your smartphone is helping to make it faster and easier.
