Firefox 4 Mobile for Android released

Firefox fans rejoice – the latest version of Firefox Mobile for Android has finally made its transition from Release Candidate to full version. Available as a free download on the Android Market now, Firefox 4 Mobile attempts to bridge the gap between the mobile surfing experience with the one found on the desktop, and it looks like it’s doing the job pretty well. Everything from the desktop version is present: tabbed browsing, add-ons, themes, and syncing with your desktop browser so you don’t have to go through the hassle of manually transferring passwords, bookmarks, and browsing history from the desktop to the phone and vice versa. The browser is also touted to be faster than the stock Android browser, and since it’s free anyway, it’s worth giving it a shot. Mozilla Firefox 4 The Strong Competetor for Internet Explorer 9

Mozilla yesterday rocked with its new launch of version Firefox 4 has already grabbed 1.95 percent of the worldwide Internet browser market. The latest version Mozilla Firefox 4 is three to six times faster than the previous Firefox. The latest Firefox 4 downloads in a 24 hours time frame stands at 7.1 million download.

According to the reports from StatCounter, Mozilla Firefox 4 on the first day of its release scored highest downloads across the worldwide, than the new Microsoft's Internet Explorer 9 which has been launched last week.

Mozilla Firefox 4 has really given a strong competition to Internet Explorer 9. Microsoft's Internet Explorer 9 has just taken 0.87 percent of the worldwide market till date and where as within 24 hours of time Firefox 4 has grabbed nearly 1.95 percent of the worldwide Internet browser market.

Though, Internet Explorer 9 has certainly been in a weak position because of the lack of its compatibility with Windows XP.

However, when we taken into consideration about the versions of each browser, Internet Explorer still ranks at the top in the global market with 45 percent, Firefox stands at the second place with 30 percent, and Chrome with 17 percent. If we take the reports of all versions combined in US market, Internet Explorer has grabbed 48%, followed by Firefox and Chrome with 26 percent and 14 percent.

According to the StatCounter figures, Internet Explorer global market share report, from February 2010 to 2011 February has been steadily declined from 55 percent to 45 percent and where as Google's Chrome has risen progressively from 7 percent to 17 percent worldwide.

The sources from StatCounter, revealed that Mozilla Firefox surpassed Microsoft's Internet Explorer to turn out to be the number 1 browser in Europe market for the first time in December 2010.

The StatCounter global figures are based on aggregate data collected on a sample exceeding 15 billion page views per month from the StatCounter network of more than three million websites. While coming to US the data collected on a sample exceeding is 4 billion page views per month.

How to enable ‘Save and Quit’ option in Firefox 4

If you’ve recently updated to Firefox 4, then you must have noticed a new design and some new features. But there’s one very handy feature ‘Save and Exit’ which is missing in Firefox 4, but was available in previous versions of Firefox browser. However, there is a quick and easy way to get back this option, which restores all the tabs opened in the browser on re-opening Firefox 4

To Enable ‘Save and Quit’ feature in Firefox 4, just type about:config in the address bar and open it. Enter browser.showQuitWarning in the Filter tab. Double-click the entry named browser.showQuitWarning so that its value changes to ‘true’. That’s it!

Now you’ll be presented with ‘Quit Firefox’ dialog box on closing Firefox 4.
