iPhone Dev Team Confirms Untethered iOS 4.3.1 Jailbreak Exploit is ‘Solid’, Quashes Spy Rumors

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Thursday, March 31, 2011

Two interesting little jailbreak tidbits to come out of hacker MuscleNerd’s Twitter account today with news of an untethered 4.3.1 jailbreak as well as his thoughts on rumors of a spy in the jailbreak camp.

First up we have confirmation from the big man that hacker i0n1c’s untethered 4.3.x jailbreak appears to be ‘solid’ with just a few final kinks to work out.

Hopefully this news means we won’t have to wait too long to jailbreak our updated iDevices without the fear associated with tethered hacks.

MuscleNerd also quashed rumors that there was a spy in the camp, with information being leaked to Apple to help the Cupertino company fix the SHAtter exploit in iOS 4.3, and more recently iPad 2 jailbreak exploit on iOS 4.3.1.

According to MuscleNerd’s Twitter and forum postings, the Dev Team wasn’t actually in on what Comex was working on when SHAtter was in the works, so they couldn’t have leaked anything even if they wanted to.

That solves that then!

Now, less tweeting and more hacking please Mr MuscleNerd!

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Developer Preview 2 Released

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Thursday, March 31, 2011

Apple has pushed out an updated Developer Preview of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.

The update’s change log doesn’t give much away, with the only entry giving the impression the update is aimed at allowing developers to download future updates. An update to allow an update? Has Apple been watching Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 debacle?
This update is required to redeem downloads of Mac OS X Lion seed builds from the Mac App Store.

It has been rumored that Apple is hoping to release a Golden Master of Lion to developers sooner rather than later, so we’re guessing this update is paving the way for just that.

Windows Phone 7.5 Mango Update In Hands Of Hackers [Video]

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Thursday, March 31, 2011

The world of Windows Phone 7 is starting to hot up these days, with the infamous NoDo update starting to roll out to lucky handset owners. Now the fledgling OS is in the headlines once again thanks to ‘The Dark Force Team’, a group of hackers who sprung to fame when they managed to get WP7 onto the popular HTC HD2 hardware.

The hackers today released a video of the NoDo update running on, unsurprisingly, another HD2 handset – but that’s not the interesting thing here.

In a shot toward the end of the video another handset ‘accidentally’ finds its way on-camera. Looking closely it appears the extra handset is sporting a new search button, prompting Pocketnow (amongst others) to speculate that the hackers have managed to get their hands on what many are calling Windows Phone 7.5, dubbed Mango.

The fact that a new, major update to WP7 is already floating around the internet and in the hands of hackers will be embarrassing to Microsoft, though it’s great news for the growing WP7 fan case.

Check out the video to get a glimpse of the future WP7 update. Watch The Video Here

Download SoundHound Infinity free from the Amazon AppStore

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Today, Amazon is giving away SoundHoud Infinity as its free premium app of the day download in the Amazon AppStore. The app usually sells for $4.99, but today, it can be yours free.

SoundHound Infinity is one of those music discovery apps, just like Shazam. There have been countless situations where I heard a song that I really liked and didn’t know who the artist was. Instead of just enjoying the sound and never knowing who the artists was, you can now use SoundHound.

In order to identify a song, simply let SoundHound Infinity hear a sample of the song, and in as little as 4 seconds, the name of the song and artist is returned to you.

What’s really sets SoundHound Infinity apart fro its competitors is that it also discovers music that you sing, whistle, and hum to it. This is a nice feature to have because sometimes when you want to remember the name of the song, you won’t have it blasting in the background.

Head on over the Amazon AppStore and download SoundHound Infinity free!

Quick Fix To The HTC Thunderbolt 3G Issues

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Many HTC Thunderbolt owners have been complaining about how their device isn’t doing it with Verizon’s 3G network. I think that issues like this are normal for any phone’s early adopters but rest assured an Android Central forum user “Landale”, said that after talking to a couple of Verizon techs was told that Verizon’s eHPRD 3G, which is a 3G network dedicated to the Thunderblolt alone which allows it to support data and voice at the same time, isn’t working right now.

He also went on recommending to not hard reset your HTC Thunderbolt and proposed this easy fix:
  • Dial ##778# and hit send
  • A pop-up window named EPST will show up giving you 2 choices: View Mode and Edit Mode. Pick: Edit Mode.
  • Enter the Password: 000000
  • Go down to Modem Settings and pick “Rev A
  • You’ll want to choose eHRPD and click OK, hit the menu button and then press “Commit Modifications.”
Voila! After your “Thundy” restarts, you should be good to go! Make sure to revert to the old settings later on when the 3HRPD issue is resolved.

Google’s Answer to the Facebook “Like” Button: The “+1”

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Google is making a big new push into social with a feature called “+1” that is similar in purpose to the Facebook “Like” button, but integrated directly into the world’s biggest search engine.

Starting Wednesday, users that opt into the +1 button experiment (and soon everyone else) in Google Labs will start seeing a +1 icon next to each link in Google search results.

Google defines this action as a “public stamp of approval,” and it is exactly that. When you +1 something, your name becomes associated with that link “in search, on ads, and across the web,” according to the company. It also shows up in a feed on your Google Profile, which is required to use the product.

The move builds on a number of social features that Google introduced in search earlier this year, such as the ability to see which friends have tweeted a given link in search results. Today’s move, however, is clearly something much bigger.

Beyond showing up in search results, Google plans to offer a +1 button to publishers that lets readers +1 something without leaving the publisher’s site. Facebook has a big head start here with its Like button — some two million sites and counting have it installed — but Google’s button will instantly have a lot of appeal, given the company says +1 data will directly influence its market share dominating search rankings. Similarly, we have to imagine that +1 is more  bad news for content farms, whose content is less likely to be shared.

In another twist, users will also be able to +1 ads, as the company explains on the AdWords blog The video below explains +1 in more detail; we’ll have further analysis on Mashable later today.

Flickr Dips Its Toes Into Social With Twitter And Facebook ‘Share This’ Features

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Photo-sharing site Flickr, which has limitless potential in terms of sheer amounts of photos stored on the service (over 5 billion at last count), has made it easier for users to share their photos today with new Twitter and Facebook “Share This” features. A share interface re-vamp comes along with the new features.

While previously you could only share photostreams, groups, and sets from Flickr by sending an email, manually grabbing the link/code or on Blogger, users now have the option to post their photos on Facebook and Twitter as well as on Tumblr via “Share This” drop down menu in the upper left.

The new features interestingly enough operate on different privacy levels: Logged-in users will be able to share private photos with their friends on Facebook, but only public content will be available for sharing via Twitter or for logged out users on Facebook.

Flickr, probably feeling the heat from mobile social photo services like Instagram and even Color, plans on bringing these features to their mobile apps and sites as soon as possible. Welcome to the party Flickr.

Dell Dubs iPad Too Expensive for Enterprise Using Fuzzy Math

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

It doesn't appear Apple is having any trouble moving iPad tablets. The recently released iPad 2 sold out almost as soon as it went on sale, and there's now a waiting period if you place an order with Apple. Be that as it may, a senior Dell executive says the iPad has no place in the enterprise because of its high price, at least when you toss in the necessary peripherals, and that Android will lead eventually lead the way.

"Apple is great if you've got a lot of money and live on an island. It's not so great if you have to exist in a diverse, open, connected enterprise, simple things become quite complex," Andy Lark, Dell's global head of marketing for large enterprises and public organizations, said to CIO Australia.

Of course, Dell has a vested interest in seeing alternative tablets succeed, as the OEM is currently building slates based on Android and Windows Phone 7. But does Lark have a point?

"An iPad with a keyboard, mouse, and a case [means] you'll be at $1,500 or $1,600; that's double of what you're paying. That's not feasible," Lark says.

And we would agree, $1,600 for a tablet isn't feasible, the problem is his numbers don't exactly add up. The most expensive iPad 2 device runs $829. Even after adding the cost of a keyboard and case, you're still under $1,000, and that's for the most expensive iPad out there. For the least expensive model, you can shave $330 off.

AT&T Admits to Intentionally Slowing Down Atrix and HTC Inspire

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

If you're a T-Mobile subscriber locked into a multi-year contract, you have to hope that AT&T's latest shenanigans aren't a sign of things to come. Following a bunch of complaints made to the Better Business Bureau, AT&T admitted to intentionally crippling the Atrix and HTC Inspire, which explains why owners of these two smartphone models have been unable to see anything near 4G upload speeds, according to DSLReports.com. Left unexplained, however, is exactly why AT&T did this.

While AT&T is reluctant to explain themselves, the wireless carrier did promise to remedy the situation with an upcoming software update.

"We're excited to announce that both the Atrix 4G and Inspire 4G are expected to receive software updates in April," AT&T stated on its Facebook page. "In addition, one of AT&T's next leading Android devices, the Samsung Infuse 4G, will ship with HSUPA already enabled. With these software updates, and our continued rollout of expanded backhaul, our 4G devices will continue to get faster. Please keep in mind that software is only one of many factors that can affect speeds experienced. Factors such as location, time of day, network capacity, and facilities can have an impact as well."

So there you have it. If you own an Atrix or Inspire smartphone, hang tight and you should experience faster network performance come April.

Feel Daring? Nvidia GeForce 270.51 Beta Drivers Now Available for Download

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Experimenting with beta drivers isn't for the faint of heart, especially when it comes to videocards. After all, this is your pricey GPU we're talking about, and a poorly coded driver can wreak all kinds of havoc, from instability to artifacting, to even overheating if the fan doesn't kick on when it's supposed to. That said, if you're down for playing with pre-release drivers, Nvidia has made available its GeForce 270.51 driver set in beta form.

The new 270.51 beta drivers add support for the recently released GeForce GTX 590, GTX 560 Ti, and GTX 550 Ti videocards. In addition, Nvidia says you can expect performance gains versus the 266.58 drivers when using GeForce 400 series and 500 series GPUs. Some of these are truly massive, such as up to 516 percent better performance in Dragon Age 2, though in a very specific situation (SLI, 2560x1600, 8xAA/16xAF, Very High, SSAO on).

Also new to the 270 series of drivers (and later), Nvidia Update will keep your PC up-to-date with the latest graphics card drivers by notifying you when a new driver is available.

Massachusetts Restaurant Chain Fined $110,000 for Data Breach

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

If you're a business owner living in Massachusetts, failing to keep your customers' personal information safe from virtual prying eyes isn't just bad for business, it's also illegal. This was underscored by a MA restaurant chain agreeing to pay a $110,000 fine to settle a complaint alleging that hackers were able to access customers' credit and debit card information. That's a big no-no in Massachusetts.

According to ThreatPost.com, Massachusetts is home to the nation's toughest data breach law. In agreeing to pay $110,000 to settle charges, the Briar Group LLC becomes the first company to be fined under the law. The case actually dates back to an April 2009 incident when a malicious program was installed on Briar's network. The program wasn't detected and removed until eight months later.

In addition to the heavy fine, the Briar Group also agreed to prove compliance with the state's data security regulations and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). Despite all this, there aren't any hard feelings on the part of the Briar Group. In a statement, the Briar Group said the settlement "achieves our shared goal of ensuring that our customers can use their credit cards with confidence in the security of their data."

Genius MousePen M508W lets you draw on your PC from across the room

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

When the pen tablet was first created for the computer, it took digital art to a whole new level. Users could create fantastic artwork without making a mess while having access to tools like undo, copy, paste and scale at their disposal to help them craft their masterpieces. But one of the limitations about pen tablets was that you would have to work right next to the computer due to the length of the tablet’s USB cable. The ability to draw anytime, and anywhere you want with pen and paper gives it a notch over the pen tablet. Well, the folks over at Genius have released a new pen tablet that overcomes some of these limitations. While the MousePen M508W won’t allow you to draw outdoors like you would like, you’re no longer restricted to sitting in at your desk while you work. Perfect for working with a projector or when giving presentations. The tablet connects to the computer via a wireless USB receiver is powered by three AAA batteries, while the stylus is powered by 2 AA batteries. The tablet has 4 on-board programmable buttons, and comes with software to make life easier for you. It works on both Windows and Mac operating systems, and is available now for $149.

Speck CandyShell Card iPhone 4 case replaces wallet

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Don’t you just get annoyed at how fat your wallet can get when it’s loaded with credit cards, and identification cards? Well, Speck has come up with an iPhone 4 case to address that problem. Called the Speck CandyShell Card, this specially designed case serves a dual purpose of protecting your iPhone and storing your important cards that you need to bring around with you at all times. Be it 3DS AR cards or your credit cards, this case stores them all. Well maybe not all – it is thick enough to hold up to three credit cards. For those times when all you need is your ID and debit/credit card, you can fold some loose change to fit into the case and leave home without your wallet. However, just make sure your cards can’t be affected by magnets, because if they are, it’s not a great idea to put them next to your phone. The Speck CandyShell Card is available now for $39.95.

448Gbps a possibility in the future

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Tuesday, March 29, 2011

We have seen the future, and it is not the number of the beast that will feature prominently – instead, it will be 448Gbps that will be lingering on everyone’s lips. After all, this new benchmark is extremely impressive, since it was actually achieved using commercial fiber hardware that is readily available, thanks to the efforts of a few teams of researchers. Among them are the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, the National Inter-university Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT), and Ericsson, working in tandem to develop what is touted to be the first transmission line operating at 448Gbps in the world. Further tests are expected to run on other network segments in the near future, so hopefully a practical, working service will be made available to the masses sooner rather than later. Makes us wonder just what kind of monthly subscription fee one would need to fork out to enjoy such blazing speeds. Makes 4G feel like a snail who has been cast with a Slow spell, ten times over.

What’s cooler than a remote controlled, heavy duty, all-terrain vehicle? How about a remote controlled, heavy duty, all-terrain vehicle that shoots water? And that’s what the Remote Control Car with Water Gun is. A monster truck-type of vehicle that comes equipped with enough water to soak the shoes or pants of anybody that annoys you or makes fun of you for playing with a toy (it will hit their face if you can get them to pick it up and inspect it). It goes up to 11mph and has Xenon lights to let anyone know that they’re in its way. Such fun doesn’t come for cheap though. The Remote Control Car with Water Gun sells for $80 each and can be purchased here.

Firefox fans rejoice – the latest version of Firefox Mobile for Android has finally made its transition from Release Candidate to full version. Everything from the desktop version is present: tabbed browsing, add-ons, themes, and syncing with your desktop browser so you don’t have to go through the hassle of manually transferring passwords, bookmarks, and browsing history from the desktop to the phone and vice versa. The browser is also touted to be faster than the stock Android browser, and since it’s free anyway, it’s worth giving it a shot. Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 coming to Windows Phone 7

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Firefox really knocked the ball out of the park with its most recent release, out-downloading Internet Explorer 9 by quite an impressive – nay, obliterating margin. Still, that doesn’t mean Microsoft is going to let IE9 languish around like that, no sir – the company will be introducing the Internet Explorer 9 Web browser to Windows Phone 7 later this year, boasting full support for HTML5 video and graphics as well as hardware-assisted acceleration. Of course, users will also be able to benefit from its multitasking capability that lets you keep one app running while you start another. We do hope that it will run smooth enough when it arrives in the market, and hopefully there will be less security holes for unscrupulous folks to exploit than its desktop predecessors.

Rumor: Google working with LG on state-of-the-art Nexus Tablet

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Every once and a while, Google likes to cosy up to a handset maker of their choice and design a truly world class smartphone to show the rest of the Android ecosystem just how it’s done.

The idea here is basically to put together a reference device that conforms to all of the standards Google wants to see in an Android device. Ostensibly, Android is an open piece of software, so Google’s trying to subtly guide handset makers in how they should approach designing Android smartphones, not just now, but in the future. They are also a way for Google to sell an Android device directly to consumers that they can guarantee will be able to accept all future Android updates, and which won’t be loaded with other, third-party software insisted upon by device makers.

So far, Google’s released two such devices, each under the Nexus moniker. The first was the Google Nexus One, and it was built by HTC, who also worked with Google on the first Android phone, the G1. Next, Google partnered with Samsung to release the Nexus S, a rebranded and slightly tweaked version of Samsung’s popular Galaxy S series of smartphones.

Now Google is working on a new Nexus device, but unlike past exercises, this device isn’t a smartphone: it’s a tablet. According to reports, Google is working with LG on a Google Nexus Tablet which will run Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb and be available for sale either later this summer or early in the fall.

If you’re going to buy an Android tablet over an iPad, I’d recommend that you wait for the Nexus Tablet. It’ll be a state-of-the-art device that will get all updates to the Android operating system in a timely manner, and you won’t have to risk your tablet being left behind as Honeycomb improves.

Japan’s Love With the 3DS Over? Boatloads of Used 3DS in Stores

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Tuesday, March 29, 2011

It looks like the honeymoon with the Nintendo 3DS in Japan is already over, while folk in the U.S. are just getting their hands on the glasses-free 3D handheld. Several Japanese blogs are reporting that there is an abundance of used 3DS systems being sold back to stores. Is the 3DS really just a gigantic gimmick? Hard to say. Kotaku’s Brian Ashcraft says that lots of 3DS units were purchased with the intent of making a quick buck in light of system shortages, but it looks like the plan might have backfired. We’re thinking that along with Ashcraft’s assertion that the 3DS units were bought for resale, that anecdotal evidence that stated some Japanese folk experienced bouts of dizziness after short play time with the 3D effects turned on might also be the culprit. Or maybe the Japanese are just saving all their bucks for the NGP and its big bad 5-inch OLED screen. A month’s worth of evidence isn’t conclusive. We’ll know the 3DS is a flop, if in six months, sales of it stop selling like hotcakes and topping the weekly sales charts. Until then, reports of the 3DS’s early demise are premature.

Carbon nanotube device can rapidly diagnose cancer

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Monday, March 28, 2011

In the world of cancer detection, technology is rapidly evolving, and researchers are constantly developing newer and better ways to scope out those deadly cells. Well some researchers from MIT and Harvard have developed a new design for their carbon nanotube device that they came up with four years ago. This new version of the device is touted to work 8 times better. Instead of silicon solid tubes that were used in the original version, they used highly porous carbon nanotubes that allow cells to flow through them, increasing the chances of catching cancer cells. It wasn’t mentioned when or if this technology will be used in hospitals, but the sooner the better, as they say – prevention is better than cure, and early detection is the key to preventing cancer. Head here for the full report.

Intel unveils affordable 320 Series SSDs in sizes up to 600GB

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Monday, March 28, 2011

Over the years, the best dollar-for-dollar upgrade you can make to an old machine to dramatically improve its performance has fluctuated, and even today, it’s true that slapping some more RAM or a new GPU into your machine should result in a sizable performance boost. At this point, though, almost all aspects of your average computer are blindingly fast enough to complete most tasks. The bottleneck on many computers has increasingly become the read/write speeds of their hard drives.

Upgrading to an SSD drive, then, can be one of the most dramatic performance boosts you can give ailing hardware. Look at Apple’s MacBook Airs, which are blisteringly fast, even though the CPU, GPU and RAM are relatively wimpy. The problem with SSDs, though, are that they are not only expensive, but they come in relatively small capacities.

Intel’s latest SSD range, the 25nm-based 320 series, aims to change both deficiencies of the SSD format. Replacing the X25-M series of SSDs, the 320 Series not only ups storage capacity, but slashes prices by up to $100 per drive.

Available in 40, 80, 120, 160, 300 and 600GB capacities, Intel’s third-gen 320 Series SSDs double sequential write speeds over their predecessors, offering up to 220 MB/s sequential writes and up to 270 MB/s sequential reads.

The 320 Series of SSD is positioned below Intel’s SSD 510 series and uses a 3Gbps SATA II interface instead of a 6Gbps SATA III interface. If you can live with that, though, the 320 Series is worth considering to give some new life to an old machine, especially at these asking prices: 40GB at $89; 80GB at $159; 120GB at $209; 160GB at $289; 300GB at $529 and 600GB at $1,069.

Trailer Tracking Is More Than A Security Issue!

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Monday, March 28, 2011

While fleet operators might view the key benefits of trailer tracking as maintaining constant cargo visibility while trailers are constantly coupled and uncoupled or left parked unattended overnight, determination to cut fuel costs and doublecheck driver timesheet records are never far behind in their thoughts.

It's for the above reasons that over recent years, the desire to maintain constant contact with every single one of their Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) and articulated trailers has led to transportation companies installing a vehicle tracking solution as standard policy.

Yet beyond the safeguarding of valuable assets and shipments against loss or theft, today's highly competitive and cost-conscious, customer-service led industry cannot be underestimated. It is too often forgotten that before GPS vehicle tracking technology was available, trying to locate and speak with drivers once they were en-route, could take many long hours or even days via telephone, causing costly delays or scheduling chaos.

Maintaining control over driver movements via a realtime tracking device enables fleet managers to determine if their trailers are being used for ‘moonlighting' or other unauthorised, and possibly illegal use.

However, different freight and transportation companies will have their own requirements according to the different types of trailer being employed, from refrigerated, curtain sided to box container to even flat bed, where applications needed might be for temperature monitoring, perishable freight and bulk load transportation.

Notwithstanding, the importance of a tracking device for pinpointing vehicle location and a fast response trailer tracking can supply load security by implementing motion sensors and door monitoring. Precise data measurement of time and distances travelled can be collected from the trailer on a 20-second update and location-based reporting can be pre-set, even when the trailer is off-road, on a daily, weekly or monthly reporting cycle.

Temperature control on chilled, refrigerated or frozen goods containers can also be continuously monitored by independent probes or directly connected recorders.

Load capability has significantly expanded in recent years and it is estimated that for every HGV there are now three trailers. However monitoring was still based on operating both a trailer tracking and a separate vehicle based system at the same time. Latest technology advances now enable the same data reporting for both the trailer load and vehicle.

A trailer tracking unit can be installed in a covert and secret recess to avoid tampering or theft and is manufactured to specification, allowing the device to successfully cope with exposure to tough weather conditions, including protection from winter road salt.

After what appears to have been a very successful launch for Nintendo in both the U.K. and the U.S. over the weekend, it appears reports of a “black screen of death” are plaguing many new 3DS systems. The black screen of death reported on popular game forums such as NeoGaf are stating that when games are put into “suspend mode,” the 3DS locks up and crashes, resulting in the error message you see in the pic above. Games with the reported problems include Super Monkey Ball, Street Fighter IV 3D, Pilotwings, Ghost Recon, Lego Star Wars III and several Mii apps. An official fix from Nintendo has yet to issued, but gamer solutions seem mixed. Some report that turning off the 3DS fixes the crash error, while others report that reformatting their SD cards to FAT-32 solves the prob. If you bought a 3DS over the weekend, let us know whether you’ve hit the black screen of death, and if so, what’s your fix?

5 Of The Best Ways To Find People By Phone Number

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Monday, March 28, 2011

If your like anyone else you have received calls from numbers that you didn't know and you wondered how to find people by phone number. On the other hand, you may be in need of trying to track someone down and all you have is their number. Regardless of what your reasons are, there are a few ways you can go about reaching your goal. Here are 5 of the best ways to find people by phone number or find out exactly who owns a number you are looking at.

The first method is to hire someone within certain industries that have access to software and programs that are able to do this for you. An example would be a skip tracer. These are people who often times work for collection agencies and are known for their ability to find and track down people and their locations. Often times these types of professions can find someone by phone number within seconds.

The second method is actually fairly simple. We live in the information age mostly in part because of the great Google machine. You can sometimes find someone by phone number by simply entering the digits into the search engine. Although this isn't always effective, it can often times return surprising results.

If you want another free method to find people by phone number you can simply go to whitepages.com. This can, however, be a hit or miss technique just as the search engine. In the middle of the page there is an option to do a reverse search. Simply enter the number and see what comes back. The downside to this type of tactic is in the fact that whitepages.com does not include cell numbers and will only work for landline phones.

Fourth on our list of options to find people by phone number is to use reverse number directories. This can sometimes be extremely tedious to use as it requires searching through thousands of numbers for the one you are looking for. However, the advantage to these types of directories lies in the fact that they are free.

Finally, the quickest and easiest option available that almost guarantees results when looking to find people by phone number is to use a paid reverse number lookup technology. There are various websites on the internet that will allow you to find someone within seconds and usually for just a few dollars. Overall, this is the best option as the prices are typically well under $10 and the overall process takes less than 5 minutes.

What you need to know about 192.168.1.1 and Routers in General

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Monday, March 28, 2011

Most homes nowadays have their own wireless network that requires the use of routers for accessing the internet from home. The most basic function of a router is to provide internet access to your home instead of the traditional wired connection. In order to fully understand the function of routers, it is also important to understand the 192.168.1.1 address, which is where the router control panel is generally hosted by default. It is therefore important to have a broad understanding on what makes up a router and how to use the 192.168.1.1 control panel for an efficient use of your wireless network at home.

First off, what is an IP address? It literally stands for Internet Protocol Address which serves as the base for all of the computers and devices that are connected to the internet. This is what you need to be able to establish connection to a give website on the internet. All web addresses point to a series of digits, which includes the 192.168.1.1, that also indicates where the browser must be looking for to show a given webpage. The use of domain names was designed in order to make it easier to understand for web users.

The NAT device is another important component of setting up a wireless network at home, which is intended to intercept communication between the Internet Service Provider and a computer or computers you might have at home. This will serve as the main access point for the IP address 192.168.1.1 that is then relayed to the internet for easy access of the websites. This is intended to avoid sending the wrong information to the wrong computer. However, there is no need for a NAT device such as a router if only one computer is connected to the internet.

What about 192.168.1.1? This is basically the IP address used on all routers and NAT devices, in general. You can access the control panel of your router by opening the internet browser of your choice and input 192.168.1.1 onto the address bar, which is located on top of the page. Only you are able to access that unique control panel number. However, it is also possible to search for a given computer's IP address via the internet and other search engines, which is being done to detect from which part of the world a computer is accessing a website.

The next step is therefore configuring your router and you can do that by typing in 192.168.1.1 on the address bar of your browser. This will bring you to the control panel for your router and then you will be provided with a number of options. This is also a great way to find new versions available online for easy upgrade.

Understanding how IP addresses and routers work can be quite complex at first, but learning more about it will give you an idea how simple it actually is. But if you come to fully understand what 192.168.1.1 is and its role in setting up your home wireless network, then it would be much easier to explore more of its uses.

Apple Iphone 4 Is A Status Symbol Phone

0 comments Posted by ADMIN on Monday, March 28, 2011

The introduction of the Apple iPhone was one of the game changing events in the mobile phone industry back in 2007 and that situation has not changed slightly in the launch of the Apple iPhone 4. Still it continues to get a number of fans worldwide for the amount of technology that it manages to include amongst a plethora of phones that do not offer any when compared with the iPhone 4. The new iPhone 4 is much sleeker and powerful than before, which makes it extremely user friendly as well. The iPhone 4 is now available in the United Kingdom and in many countries of the world from June, but it has been one phone that has not crumbled under pressure from other manufacturers.

The Apple iPhone 4 will be using the same 3.5 inch touch screen display and this has become some sort of signature effect for the Apple iPhone brand. It will, however, the using of better technology than the previousversion and it can be confirmed by the presence of a technology called the retina display technology. This is a technology that is going to apparently improve the user friendliness of the phone by bringing high resolution to your palm. While this may have sounded like a bold claim initially, Apple have exactly achieved it and the Retina Display technology is like none other than you might have witnessed nowadays. The Apple iPad uses three different memory combinations, but the iPhone 4 will be coming with only the two different options when it comes to the memory. There is going to be the 16 GB option and the 32 GB memory option in the iPhone 4.

The five megapixel camera in the iPhone 4 is a major improvement from the previous 3.15 megapixel camera used in the Apple iPhone 3GS.

Aside from the improvement in the quality of the sensor, there is also a major improvement in the features of the camera as well. Now, to be featuring the latest attraction that is the 720 p HD video recording option. Due to the usage of a powerful 1 GHz processor, the iPhone 4 will be able to support multitasking by virtue of having the iOS 4 operating system. If there is one area where the iPhone 4 does not see many changes from the previous versions, then it has to be in the connectivity aspect. However, on a closer look, it is only the connectivity names that have remained constant, but the technology is that it uses will be very similar.
However, one cannot simply classify the connectivity options in the iPhone 4 as such as it has a number of improvements that will make the data transfer between the phone and other devices much faster. The iPhone 4 will be having a price difference of just 100 between the two variants and without a doubt, the 16 GB variant is lower than the 32 GB variant. The 16 GB option is priced at 510.

What is Android and why it is so popular

Most of us may not be aware that some of our cellular phones, just like computers have an operating system. The more advanced the phone is, the more complex the operating system would become. Since cellular phones are becoming more and more advanced, we can be sure that their operating systems will continue to be more complex. One of the less complex cellular operating systems developed is called Android which was first developed by a small company by the same name. (As you read though, the firm is now owned by giant cooperation Google, which most of us associate with web searches).

Some of the key features and operational requirements of Android include an ability to work with VGA as well as both 2 and 3D graphics libraries. For storage, you have massive spaces. For connectivity, both GSM and EDGE will work nicely along with 3G and 3.5G. Of course, it will also connect with Bluetooth technology. With regards to sending and receiving messages, both the short messaging service as well as multimedia messaging service is supported. Other features include support for both video and audio calling, internet downloading and performing of multiple tasks simultaneously generally known as "Multitasking".

Since being acquired by Google in the Mid-2000s, Android has continued to grow its sales at a fairly fast rate. Indeed by mid-2010, it was commanding a 13 percent global market share among cellular platforms. This may sound low until you realize that only a year earlier, its sales were just below 3 percent of the global market. No doubt competitors such as iPhone and Symbian are getting a run for their money from this system. Of course, with the fast race of this very dynamic technology market, it is hard to predict how the future will look like especially when it comes to cell phone tracking.

As with any other good thing, Android also has its downsides. One of these is that it is not fully compatible with Linux despite the fact that it has roots from this system. The same challenge is also experienced with Java. Another area of concern is the lack of support when establishing Wi-Fi network connection.

You might also be interested to note that recently Google was taken to court by Java over intellectual property issues. It is not clear what the outcome of this case will be and what it might spell for the future of the system. Meanwhile, hopefully, we will continue to enjoy its services in our cell phone tracker app for a while.

I enjoy writing articles about GPS, free cell phone tracker software and Google Maps.

About This Blog

TecHnooGuide.blogspot.com started as a personal blog in Jan 2011, under the first domain name TechnooGuide.

TechnooGuide aims to provide the latest news about technology and gadgets, social media, computers, and the internet in general to all the people of the world.

Everything just started as a hobby and passion of the editor-in-chief of this blog to write the latest news in the internet, particularly in the field of technology, gadgets, and computers. The simple passion started to get serious as this blog continue to grow.

I’m optimistic the year 2011 would be a success, but of course that wouldn’t happen without you being part of the community. If there’s anything you have to say, I’d love to hear that. Cheers!
