Nokia plans to cut jobs at end of April
Nokia has stated that it will start to talk about job cuts at the end
of April in the wake of its deal with Microsoft to produce Windows
Phone 7 devices. Since Nokia will no longer be developing and
maintaining software for its smartphones, there will not be a need to
have as many engineers on board. Finnish labor unions have said the cuts
could cost Finland thousands of jobs. Nokia is currently Finland’s
largest employer.
