Google has stopped sending the CR-48 notebook, the first pilot Chrome OS device, and is preparing for the next phase of its launch.
Google vice president of product management Sundar Pichai spilled the beans today on Twitter. "We have sent to all units, for now, " Pichai said.
The Google executive also reconfirmed that the first devices for OS Chrome will be released this summer. Acer and Samsung are among the first companies to commit to sending operating system chrome in December.
First announced in 2009, Chrome OS is an operating system designed for the web. It starts in seconds and can be upgraded, but more importantly, only runs Web applications. Is Google's attempt to get people to ditch their desktop and use the web even more.
Since its debut in 2009, however, tablet devices like Xoom and IPAD two have dominated the market and changed the computing landscape. Netbook sales are plummeting while sales have skyrocketed compressed.
As Google is entering the next phase of development cycle Chrome OS - but it is unclear whether there is a market for a web based operating system in a world IPAD.
